Des Moines, Iowa –The Sioux Falls Skyforce (11-13) used a 51-point third quarter to defeat the Iowa Wolves (11-10) 128-103 Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
With the loss, the Wolves drop to second place in the Midwest Division behind the Oklahoma City Blue.
Winning by as many as 17 points in the first half, the Wolves were outscored 83-46 in the second half and shot a season-low 22.2% (6-of-27) from deep just three days after setting a season-high in made three-pointers (19).
Melo Trimble scored a team-high 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor. The former Terrapin also recorded a team-best seven assists.
Rookie Justin Patton had his most productive night yet off the bench for Iowa, tallying 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting while collecting three rebounds.
Iowa gave up a 32-12 fast break points advantage and were beaten 24-8 on second chance points in the team’s first loss since Dec 15.
Wes Washpun posted a season-high 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. The former Panther was also a perfect 4-of-4 from the line.
Anthony Brown added 15 points but failed to record a three-point basket after setting a new single-game three-point record on Tuesday (10).
The Wolves finish their back-to-back on the road against the Texas Legends tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
