William “Bill” Dale Kluiter, 82, passed away November 3, 2018 at The Villages at Legacy Pointe in Waukee following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Grimes United Methodist Church, 801 W. 1st Street in Grimes. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 9 at the church. Interment will be at the Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes.
Bill was born November 12, 1935 in Waverly, Iowa to parents, John and Gwendelyn (Benton) Kluiter. He graduated from Janesville-Shell Rock High School in 1953 and Gates Business College. On June 10, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Kay Martin at the Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church in Waterloo, IA. He was employed by Waterloo Dredging Company, John Deere and Waterloo Chamber of Commerce before moving to Grimes in 1987. He worked as an accountant for the State of Iowa and retired in 2002.
Bill was a member of Grimes United Methodist Church and the Grimes Lions Club. He enjoyed volunteering for the Lions Club, coffee with “The Good Ol Boys”, fishing in Minnesota and traveling with his beloved wife, Mary Kay.
Bill is survived by his loving children, Andrew Kluiter of Windsor Heights, IA and Amy Kluiter of Grimes and his grandson, Grant Shivvers. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Janet and his wife, Mary Kay.
