City of Waukee issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.
The Waukee Fire Department recently hired Elle Worrell to fill its open full-time Firefighter/Paramedic position. Her duties include responding to fire and rescue calls, performing truck and equipment maintenance, and leading public education sessions.
“We are very excited about this new hire,” said Fire Chief Clint Robinson. “Ms. Worrell was originally a great addition to the team as a paid-on-call staffer, and then she interviewed very well once we had this full-time spot open up. She has a real passion for helping people and will be a fantastic asset to the Department.”
Worrell is a native of Wataga, Illinois. She earned a Health Sciences degree from Drake University. After graduating from Drake, she attended Mercy College of Health Sciences where she earned her EMT and Paramedic certifications. Worrell began her work with the Waukee Fire Department in August as a Paid-On-Call Firefighter/Paramedic while also working part-time for Dallas County EMS and the State Medical Examiner’s Office. She will begin her full-time work with the Department on November 15.
