Strategic America issued the following announcement.
Since Strategic America opened its doors almost 40 years ago, finding a way to help others has been at the core of our business. As we approach a season full of gratitude and appreciation, it’s also a time where we are reminded of the importance of giving back.
SA and our employees have partnered with a number of organizations to find meaningful ways to give back to the community – whether it be serving on a board, providing our talents and services, volunteering time or raising funds.
Just a sampling of the non-profits and causes that we’ve supported over the years include United Way, Youth Emergency Services, Bras for a Cause, Wildwood Hills Ranch, Meals from the Heartland, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Habitat for Humanity, Animal Rescue League, Make a Wish Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Iowa, Dorothy’s House, Food Bank of Iowa, Joppa, Count the Kicks and Bravo Greater Des Moines.
Many of our employees mirror this same dedication on their own time, investing in organizations and causes that are meaningful to them. We’re proud of the contributions we’ve made as a company and as individuals.
It doesn’t matter how small your company may be, there are plenty of opportunities to lend a hand in your community in any way you can. Need some help getting started? Use the tips below to initiate a corporate social responsibility program at your organization.
Consider Your Own Values: Contemplate your company purpose, values and employee passions to find an organization or mission that matches what you believe in. Engagement is going to be higher if you find something that people care about and are willing to invest time and potentially money in.
Bring Opportunities to the Table: Identify a few organizations or campaigns that can be promoted companywide. You can generate some excitement by having a kick-off party to talk about the charity or cause or keep everyone engaged by providing updates on monetary contributions and volunteer hours spent.
Give Support to Employees: This may not be feasible for every company but providing employees with volunteer time off helps them find time to give back when schedules may not otherwise allow. SA launched a new volunteer time off policy this year and we’ve seen great participation from employees. You can also encourage departments or groups to find volunteer opportunities they can do together.
We’re thankful for the opportunity to help many different organizations and causes within our community. Happy Thanksgiving!
