Foster Group issued the following announcement on Oct. 9
I went to the Business Record’s 90 Ideas in 90 Minutes Event. It was great.
At the event, nine people were given the opportunity to speak for five minutes each. They shared up to ten of their best ideas for life and leadership. I’ve compiled my Top Nine list in alphabetical order. The speakers had more good ideas, but these are the ones that stood out to me.
I offer them with no commentary:
Don Coffin, CEO of Bankers Trust, asked us to Assume Good Intent.
Dr. Richard Deming, Medical Director at MercyONE Cancer Center and Founder of Above + Beyond Cancer, reminded us that The Path to Joy Runs Through, Not Around, Suffering.
Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Iowa Finance Authority, focused on The Power of Diversity in All Aspects of Business and Community.
Hannah Elliott, Co-owner of Lola’s Fine Kitchen, invited us to Have a Heart Dedicated to Service.
Dan Houston, Chairman, President and CEO of Principal Financial Group, encouraged us to Focus on The Problem You’re Trying to Solve That Day.
Izaah Knox, Executive Director of Urban Dreams, challenged us to Talk with People Whose Life Experience and Perspective is Different From Yours.
Marty Martin, President of Drake University, called us to Embrace Tension.
Melissa O’Neil, CEO of Central Iowa Shelter & Services, recommended we Act in The Present as if the Game Has Already Been Won in the Future.
Beth Shelton, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Central Iowa, pressed us to consider that Self-Esteem Comes from Esteemable Acts. Period.
